The Tennessee Certification Board Prevention Conference workshop participants were asked to rate their level of knowledge of the learning objectives on a scale of 1 (poor) to 5 (excellent) on the pre and post assessments.  The post assessment also included three questions rating the overall workshop experience, relativity, and the effectiveness of the facilitators. Collected were 48 pre and 49 post completed assessments.

The pre and post assessment results of the #5 (excellent) responses on each question are offered here as measurement of the workshop effectiveness.

  • Objective 1: I can explain how a child abuse or neglect case enters the child protection system. Result: 138% improvement

  • Objective 2: I can confidently recognize signs and symptoms of the different types of abuse. Result: 156% improvement

  • Objective 3: I am able to identify roles and perspective of the various people and professionals involved in court cases: Result: 100% improvement

  • Objective 4: I am able to identify how substance abuse/addiction impacts families and children. Result: 0% improvement

  • Objective 5: I feel knowledgeable about working with families involved in court cases. Result: 122% improvement

The post assessment questions regarding the overall workshop showed the following average ratings on the same 1 (poor) to 5 (excellent) scale:

  • Please rate the session overall. Average rating: 4.5

  • The content of this course will be useful to me in my work. Average rating: 4.1

  • The facilitators were well prepared and engaging. Average rating: 4.6

These are the additional comments that were offered in the comments section of the post assessment:

  • I am on the local Foster Care Review Board and this information is always helpful. Thanks!

  • Fantastic! I appreciated every moment of it. Wished it was longer.

  • Great training, enjoyed all of it

  • Enjoyed and very important knowledge for all professionals working with children.

  • Very helpful. Thank you.

The assessment results reinforced that the workshop content was relevant and benefited this group of participants. The one objective that showed no improvement (#4) was not a surprise since it is a basic requirement of the work they do on a daily basis.
